I am an academic and writer based in the Department of English at Stellenbosch University. My research explores the confluence of social and ecological issues in literary texts, with a focus on Southern African and postcolonial writing.

More recently, I have become interested in ecogames as a medium for exploring the relationship between narratives, digital play, and ecological thinking. Details of a short course I am putting together on this topic will be made available soon – watch this space.

From time to time I write short stories. They incline towards the speculative, but are firmly rooted in what I like to think of as my everyday experience. You can read the most recently published one here.
